The Peoples Special Majlis (Constitutional Assembly) will reconvene during the first week of June, Speaker Mr. Gasim Ibrahim said in a letter he sent to members on 25 May 2008.
The rules of procedure of the Peoples Special Majlis (Constitutional Assembly) stipulate that the assembly should not be in recess for any longer than 10 Days without members being served notice during the last three days of that period. Speaker Mr. Gasim Ibrahim apologized to members in his letter for not serving notices to them, stating that the sessions were delayed due to the Drafting Committee working on inconsistent and contradictory issues or words in the amended Constitution.
The last session of the Peoples Special Majlis (Constitutional Assembly) was held on 04 May 2008.
A five-member sub-committee of the drafting committee has scrutinized all the chapters except those on Transition and Interpretation, the Information Ministry stated last week.
